A fly on the wall

Yesterday I spent the whole day in school with our oldest son Alex just observing his lessons like a fly on the wall which was so interesting. He seemed excited to have me there and I think he felt very proud explaining everything to me. They start their day by talking about how to remain positive throughout the day. They remind the pupils about how to behave during lunch and how to be a good friend. His teachers care so much about all of the students and I get the impression they all feel seen and heard. So incredibly important. If you feel happy in your environment you will thrive. I am so grateful that he has such a wonderful school to go to with loving, caring, skillful teachers.

In the school yard they have this special house called ”Friends House” to which you are instructed to go if you don´t have anyone to play with and then the other students see that and come along and make sure that person gets included in their activity. I totally love that idea and I also really like that they encourage the children to speak so openly about feeling left out so that they can fix it. It makes it not shameful anymore. Times have changed. It´s ok to admit that you sometimes feel a little lonely.

Personally I feel very warm and fuzzy in my heart knowing that we send them off to such a caring, loving warm place every day. Their school teachers rock! Next week I´m visiting our youngest son and spending a whole school day with him. I can´t wait.
